Qualcomm’s Next Snapdragon Flagship Listed For Sale Before Official Launch

Qualcomm's upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset has been listed for sale on a Chinese secondhand marketplace before its expected official launch next month, according to a recent report. The chipset was reportedly sold by a seller from Shenzhen on Xianyu, China's largest secondhand marketplace. The seller described the two items as desoldered engineering samples taken from a test board, with a placeholder price of CNY300 (~RM180) and the real price open to negotiations.

The SM8975 designation on the chip matches what Qualcomm previously linked to its higher-end flagship silicon for this generation. The chip was laser-etched with the "SM8975-100-BC" model, indicating the first LPDDR5X engineering-sample (ES) revision. The lot codes FC5528M5 and FX602R8T suggest the chips were fabricated at TSMC using the N2P node at TSMC's fab and packaged at Amkor's sites in Korea and Japan, respectively.

The packaging dates indicate the first chip was produced around late December 2025, while the second chip was made in January 2026. The images also revealed a "Heat Slug Sheet" internal heat spreader, which appears smaller than Samsung's counterparts, likely due to Qualcomm's need to support both LPDDR6 and LPDDR5X, resulting in larger package sizes for the chips.
