Over 6,200 School Buildings Declared Unsafe in Sindh

The Sindh Education Department has declared 6,220 school buildings across the province unsafe and dilapidated, prompting the relocation of students to safer premises during the monsoon season. This directive came in response to the Education Department's concerns that monsoon rains could further weaken already deteriorating structures, posing a significant risk to the lives of students, teachers, and school staff.

Lists detailing dangerous and partially dilapidated schools in all 30 districts of Sindh were provided to respective deputy commissioners. Authorities were directed to make alternative arrangements in consultation with the deputy commissioners and vacate unsafe buildings while academic activities continue at alternative locations.

Badin, Mirpurkhas, and Tharparkar districts had the highest number of schools identified as dangerous. Deputy commissioners in affected districts began searching for suitable alternative schools and premises to accommodate displaced students, in coordination with Education Department officials.
