Osun Guber: APC warns members against blaming leaders for election loss

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has advised its members not to blame party leaders for the recent gubernatorial election defeat. In a statement released by the party's Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, the party urged stakeholders to shift their focus towards rebuilding the party ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

This warning came after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Accord candidate Ademola Adeleke as the winner of the Osun governorship election on August 15. The APC stated that they had observed fabricated newspaper articles and social media videos blaming some of their leaders for the party's loss. These allegations were being promoted by anonymous groups.

The party warned that engaging in a blame game would not help overcome the present challenges or adequately prepare for the upcoming presidential election. They acknowledged the disappointment of members and supporters who worked for their gubernatorial candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, but expressed concern over those who attacked party leaders who had contributed resources, time, and advice to the organization.

The party alleged that some individuals who worked against their interests during the election were now attempting to deepen internal divisions through attacks on their leaders. They claimed these individuals had engaged in sabotage during the election and were now working to undermine the APC across Osun State. The party urged committed members to concentrate on finding solutions to strengthen the party's structures and improve its prospects ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

They commended those who campaigned for Oyebamiji, urging stakeholders to work towards the party's future rather than engage in internal attacks.
