Minister says Imran taken back to Adiala jail after hospital visit, declared 'medically fit' by doctors

ISLAMABAD: Information Minister Attaullah Tarar announced on Friday that Imran Khan, the PTI founder, underwent a medical examination at Shifa International Hospital after being transferred back to Adiala jail following the Supreme Court's directives. The health of the former premier, who has been imprisoned since August 5, 2023, for concealing details of Toshakhana gifts in a £190 million corruption case, has been deteriorating, raising concerns among party members.

During the medical check-up conducted by a team of doctors, including an ophthalmologist, a cardiologist, and a physician, Imran was declared medically fit. His sister, Uzma Khan, was present throughout the examination. Following the examination, Imran was transported back to Adiala jail on the morning of August 21, around 5am. Prior to his transfer, Imran was brought to the hospital via Pitras Bokhari Road and entered through Gate No. 1.

The hospital, located in Islamabad's Sector H-8, saw heightened security measures in place, with around 800 personnel deployed around the premises.
