Millie Odhiambo: ODM has unknowingly elevated Sifuna to Ruto’s political level

Suba North Member of Parliament Millie Odhiambo revealed on a TikTok Live session that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has unintentionally elevated Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna to a level comparable to President William Ruto. During the session, Odhiambo stated that the attacks Sifuna has faced from the ODM have actually benefited his political career, boosting his standing.

As a member of the National Assembly Minority Leader, Odhiambo believes that Sifuna is now more of a threat elsewhere, particularly in the presidential race, rather than within the ODM party. This shift in focus is due to Sifuna's ambitions to run for the presidency, a move which Odhiambo had previously cautioned the party about, but was later dismissed.

The Suba North MP also warned that in the 2027 General Election, Sifuna could potentially capture seats that were once seen as strongholds for the ODM, possibly going to the political party or vehicle he intends to showcase before the polls. Additionally, Odhiambo noted that Sifuna has withdrawn significant support from Western Kenya, a region traditionally loyal to the ODM since its establishment in 2007.

The remarks by Odhiambo come amidst ongoing political discord between Sifuna and the ODM leadership following his dismissal as the party's secretary-general. Odhiambo was one of the few members of the ODM NEC who opposed Sifuna's removal during a meeting held in Vipingo to decide his future after he refused to follow the party's directives.
