Marcos Rodríguez Pantoja, the Spanish man raised by wolves, dies aged 80

Marcos Rodríguez Pantoja, the Spanish man who spent his formative years living among wild wolves, passed away at the age of 80 on August 15, 2021, in Ourense. Known as the "Wolf Boy of Sierra Morena," Pantoja's extraordinary upbringing has captivated the world. Born in Añora, Cordoba, in 1941, he was raised by wolves in the Sierra Morena mountains after his mother's death and his father's abandonment.

It wasn't until he was 19 that he was discovered by the Guardia Civil and brought to society. Despite the initial struggle to integrate into human society, Pantoja lived a full life, working as a shepherd and in the hospitality industry, and even giving interviews about his unique upbringing. His story was turned into a Spanish film in 2010 and he had a loving community of friends and neighbors in his final years.
