Kimi Antonelli: F1 Dutch GP sprint qualifying off cost "25 points of downforce"

The Dutch Grand Prix returns to Zandvoort, marking its final season at the seaside circuit. The race will feature a sprint for the first time and is vulnerable to rain, which could impact the narrow track's narrowness. This marks the end of an era for Zandvoort, which generates no government subsidy and requires sold-out grandstands to turn a profit. Circuit director Robert van Overdijk stated that ending on a high note is the best option for the event.

However, Verstappen has renewed his contract with Red Bull for the remainder of 2026, surprising many given his recent struggles. The contract extension to 2030 demonstrates Verstappen's commitment to the team, despite reports of exploratory talks with McLaren and Mercedes.

The current team's composition has changed significantly, with Adrian Newey leaving to join Aston Martin and Laurent Mekies taking over as Red Bull's team principal. Gianpiero Lambiase, Verstappen's race engineer, will join McLaren in 2028.
