"He Took Woman To Hospital": MP On Son Involved In Aston Martin Crash In Hyderabad

Cyberabad Police issued a clarification on Friday (August 21, 2026) following questions about why 21-year-old Lingameneni Sanjush, son of Rajya Sabha member Lingameneni Ramesh, was not arrested in connection with the fatal Aston Martin crash that killed 26-year-old Inorbit Mall employee Bharati Mukhi. Sanjush was identified by Madhapur police as the driver who struck Mukhi while she crossed the road near Inorbit Mall on August 16.

A case was registered under Section 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which deals with causing death by a rash or negligent act. Cyberabad DCP Ritiraj explained that the driver was arrested immediately after the case was registered and tested negative for alcohol and drugs. His blood samples were sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory for further examination and the car was seized for inspection.

The police said that the decision not to arrest was based on a statutory assessment of the evidence available at the time, as required under Section 35 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and the Supreme Court principles in Arnesh Kumar v. State of Bihar. A notice under Section 35 was served on Sanjush to cooperate with the investigation.

The police emphasized that the decision was not influenced by extraneous factors and that the investigation is ongoing, awaiting the MVI report, forensic results and other relevant evidence before deciding on any further action, including arrest.
