Hadi balas kritikan 4 pemimpin Melayu DAP, dakwa mereka ‘tidak berpelajaran’

President of PAS, Abdul Hadi Awang, has dismissed four Malay DAP leaders as uneducated after they accused him of using Islam for political gains. Hadi expressed his views on social media, claiming that DAP wants to restore the Federal Constitution to a secular understanding based on Islamic, federal, and DAP's previous statements.

"The four Malay DAP leaders who accuse me of using Islam for political gains are not educated," he said, according to Berita Harian. In a Facebook post two days ago, Hadi alleged that DAP sought to return the Federal Constitution to a secular understanding while elevating the cause of the Malayan Communist Party (PKM). He also claimed that the proposal for the Revitalization of the New Town is aimed at evicting poor Malay residents from their homes for development reasons.

Hadi also accused secularism of being a biased doctrine brought by Western colonizers, while DAP believes that the Federal Constitution is secular. The statements have drawn the reaction of Malay DAP leader Syahredzan Johan, Young Syefura Othman, Sheikh Umar Bagharib Ali, and Syerleena Abdul Rashid, who questioned why the issue in question prevented PAS from working with DAP in Pakatan Rakyat from 2008 to 2015.

Regarding past cooperation between PAS and DAP, Hadi said that both parties have some similarities, but PAS's principle in any cooperation is that its fellow party members cannot challenge the Islamic party's basis. He said that Pakatan Rakyat finally broke up after DAP challenged the Kelantan government led by PAS to prohibit Muslim citizens from consuming strong drinks and passed the state's syariah criminal law.
