Explained: How to claim the Dh600 monthly Nafis child allowance

Starting September, Emirati workers in the private sector in the UAE will receive a monthly allowance of Dh600 per child, with no cap on the number of children. The Nafis program will fund this allowance, aimed at bolstering the finances of Emirati families working outside government roles. The allowance for sons persists until they turn 21 or commence employment, whichever occurs first.

For daughters, the aid continues until marriage or work begins. Nafis stipulates nine conditions for eligibility. To qualify, applicants must work in the private sector earning between Dh6,000 and Dh50,000 monthly. Families cannot receive this allowance from multiple sources, and recipients must not be financially supported by a government entity, unless the support originates from an inherited pension.

Their salary must be deposited via the Wage Protection System or another authorized payment system in the UAE. Applicants must have an active account with a recognized pension fund in the country, such as the Abu Dhabi Pension Fund or the General Pension and Social Security Authority, with pension contributions paid for the past two months.

Employees cannot own shares in their company and must not be registered in Nafis's program designed to cultivate Emirati talent in the medical and healthcare sectors. Special provisions exist for Emirati women in the private sector who may receive the allowance if their husband has passed away or if they are the primary caretakers, with legal documentation and proof of inability to work if applicable.
