Elvin Ng had to euthanise his 17-year-old dog due to declining health: 'I felt I could have done better for her'

Mediacorp actor Elvin Ng had to put down his 17-year-old dog, Bagel, due to declining health. The 45-year-old took to Instagram on Tuesday, August 18, to share the heartbreaking news. Ng adopted Bagel, an eight-year-old beagle, from Voices for Animals nine years ago. Describing Bagel as a true warrior who was brave, resilient, and a simple dog, Ng shared photos celebrating their nine years together.

However, as Bagel grew older, her health began to decline. Despite her frail body, her eyes remained alert until the end. Following his veterinarian's advice, Ng made the difficult decision to euthanize Bagel to prevent her from suffering. Ng admitted that it was the hardest decision he had ever had to make, admitting to feelings of guilt for not being able to take better care of her in her later years.

Many of his showbusiness friends flooded the comments with messages of love and support. Ng chose to remember the lessons Bagel had taught him and wished for her to be happy and free in her afterlife.
