The three-time All-Star visited Phoenix on Tuesday for medical examinations on his left knee.

Manager Torey Lovullo expressed difficulty in obtaining information from Marte during this period. Marte's unexpected absence occurred at a crucial time for the D-backs, who are vying for a playoff berth for the first time since 2023. The team currently boasts a 67-61 record and trails the San Diego Padres by a single game in the National League wild-card race.

Marte has been performing decently this season, batting .249 with 21 home runs and 67 RBIs. This incident is not the first time Marte has faced an unexplained absence; last year, he was placed on the restricted list after his home in Arizona was burglarized during the All-Star break. He returned to his native Dominican Republic, later apologizing for his unexpected absence.
