Diamondbacks star Ketel Marte will move to 10-day injured list after mysterious absence

Arizona Diamondbacks second baseman Ketel Marte will join the 10-day injured list after failing to appear for a game in Boston, three days after the incident. General manager Mike Hazen confirmed Marte's move from the restricted list to the injured list, with a return once he recovers, as per initial reports from The Arizona Republic and MLB.com.

The three-time All-Star recently returned to Phoenix for tests on his left knee. Manager Torey Lovullo noted that Marte has encountered difficulties in providing information during this process. Marte's absence poses a significant challenge for the Diamondbacks, who are vying for a playoff spot for the first time in six years, currently trailing the San Diego Padres by one game in the National League wild-card race.

Marte, who has struggled with inconsistency, is batting .249 with 21 home runs and 67 RBIs this season. This is not the first time Marte has had an unexplained absence; last season, he was placed on the restricted list following a break-in at his Arizona home during the All-Star break, missing three games before flying back to the Dominican Republic and apologizing for his absence.
