Cops open 5 investigations into Tabung Haji cases, 127 questioned so far

Kuala Lumpur, Aug 21 — The Malaysian Royal Police (PDRM) has announced that it will pursue transparent investigations into cases involving the Tabung Haji organization, following the release of the Tabung Haji Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) report. According to CCID director Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa, five investigation papers have been opened, and 127 individuals have already provided statements to aid in the inquiries. Further statements will be sought, including those from overseas witnesses.

The investigations are being carried out under multiple statutes, including the Penal Code, the Tabung Haji Act 1995, the Companies Act 1965, and the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001 (AMLATFPUAA). Rusdi affirmed that the PDRM is dedicated to ensuring the investigations are carried out independently, transparently, and professionally, in compliance with the law.

He emphasized that anyone found to be involved in criminal activities will face appropriate legal consequences.

In addition to the legal measures, the PDRM has called on the public to refrain from speculating or spreading unverified information concerning the ongoing investigations. The police have also advised the public to obtain updates on the investigations solely through official channels to prevent misinformation and maintain the integrity of the investigation process.
