Any lane, any time: Plus activates JustGo ANPR toll payments across North-South Expressway minus Penang Bridge

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 21 — Plus Malaysia has rolled out its JustGo toll payment system across the entire North-South Expressway (NSE) network, with the exception of Penang Bridge. The activation is a significant step in the company's efforts to modernize toll collection and offer a seamless traveling experience for millions of highway users.

The JustGo framework operates on a simple principle - the vehicle's plate number is the key to the payment process. As motorists enter a toll plaza, ANPR cameras recognize the car and process the transaction using the payment method associated with the user's JustGo account. This eliminates the need for drivers to wait in line at dedicated RFID or Touch 'n Go lanes, as the technology works across all lanes.

To use the service, motorists need to download the JustGo app on either Android or iOS, register their vehicle plate number, and upload a digital vehicle ownership certificate from the Road Transport Department (JPJ) app. A debit or credit card must also be linked within the JustGo app to enable automated billing.

The system is designed to be flexible, allowing a single JustGo account to manage up to ten different vehicles. This proves convenient for households or fleet managers handling multiple cars under one digital roof. Plus Malaysia believes this move will reduce reliance on physical on-board units or tags, paving the way for a broader transition toward a Multi-Lane Fast Flow (MLFF) system that eventually removes physical barriers at toll plazas.

For now, motorists traveling to or from Penang Island via the Penang Bridge must continue using existing payment methods, as the JustGo system remains unavailable on the bridge. Plus Malaysia has not announced when the technology will be extended to the bridge.
