Adeleke belongs to us, while Tinubu owns us all – Wike

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has declared that Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke belongs to his political camp, while emphasizing that they all ultimately belong to President Bola Tinubu. Wike made these remarks during an inspection exercise in Abuja, amidst political realignment discussions ahead of the 2027 elections.

He stated that the upcoming presidential election would be marked by extensive political alliances, with more politicians and groups expected to join Tinubu's coalition. Wike pointed out that some African Democratic Congress members were trying to claim credit for Adeleke's electoral victory, but clarified that the governor had now fully aligned with Tinubu.

He told the media, "I told you that the 2027 election would be the most in-depth election. I have told ADC who are talking about, oh, they helped Adeleke to win, they just wanted to go ahead and harvest what they never planted, you know." Wike affirmed that Adeleke's decision to visit both him and Tinubu indicated his political allegiance.

He added, "So, Adeleke is fully supporting Mr President." Wike cautioned that the political realignment was still ongoing and that Nigerians should anticipate more groups joining Tinubu's alliance. He reiterated that the election was not concluded and more players would emerge in the next few weeks. Wike dismissed claims that the 2027 political contest was already decided, urging observers to watch for a larger rainbow coalition supporting the President.

Adeleke, who won the Osun State governorship election on August 15, 2026, with 511,067 votes, has not joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) but will work with the Federal Government. Wike criticized former presidential candidate and publisher Dele Momodu for allegedly supporting the ADC and Adeleke, questioning the rationale behind Momodu's endorsement.

He concluded by reiterating Adeleke's commitment to his political camp and their shared loyalty to Tinubu. Adeleke's victory in the 2026 governorship election, with 511,067 votes, against the APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji, who received 444,815 votes, has intensified political calculations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
