ADC demands investigation into attack on member’s family home in Rivers

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Rivers State has called for a comprehensive investigation into the attack on the family home of one of its members, Isaiah Thomas, in Ikwerre Local Government Area. The incident occurred within 24 hours of the official start of elections for the presidency and National Assembly. Thomas' residence in Omuoko, Aluu, was set on fire along with other buildings, leaving his mother, Uchechi Thomas, distressed and claiming household property was destroyed as well.

Police have yet to identify the attackers. ADC Governorship candidate Gabriel Pidomson condemned the attack, stating it is unacceptable and against democratic values. He urged all political actors to act within the law and embrace tolerance. The ADC State Chairman, Chukwudi Dimkpa, also appealed for a thorough and impartial investigation, seeking those responsible to be held accountable.

Both Pidomson and Dimkpa called for calm, emphasizing that political disagreements should be resolved through dialogue and lawful means. ADC leadership reaffirmed their commitment to peaceful political participation, democratic principles, and the rule of law. They urged political stakeholders to work towards maintaining peace and security in Rivers State.
