41-year-old mother of three battles kidney failure, seeks N40m for transplant

A 41-year-old caterer and mother of three, Omolade Bolaji, is battling kidney failure and desperately needs a transplant to survive. The ordeal has forced her family to appeal to Nigerians for N40 million to cover the cost of the procedure. Omolade first experienced constant headaches in 2025, leading to multiple hospital visits for suspected typhoid.

After exhausting local treatments, she was diagnosed with kidney disease and high blood pressure. She began dialysis in July 2025, twice weekly, at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital. Doctors have warned that her kidneys can no longer function, making a transplant her only hope. The surgery, either with a donor or not, costs between N68 million and N100 million, while the full treatment, including post-operation care, is estimated at N40 million.

So far, the family has only managed to raise N1.5 million from family and friends, with the remaining amount needed to keep Omolade alive through dialysis sessions. Omolade has made a heartfelt video appeal to the Nigerian public, urging them to contribute any amount to help save her life.
