Two killed in motorcycle accident in Malaba

On Wednesday night, two individuals lost their lives in a motorcycle accident near the Eldoret Shuttle terminus in Busia County. The victims were Administration Police Corporal Evans Idodi Ekisa, who was the driver, and farmer Patrick Oriama, one of the two passengers. According to Teso North Sub-County Police Commander Charles Chepkong'a, the incident occurred around 8:50 p.m. when Corporal Ekisa was en route to his residence in Angurai.

A second motorcycle reportedly collided with Ekisa's motorcycle from behind, causing the trio to lose balance and fall onto the road. Ultimately, the victims were struck by the rear wheels of a long-distance trailer en route to Uganda. The bodies of the deceased were transported to Kocholia Sub-County Hospital Mortuary, while the injured passenger received medical attention at a private facility, as healthcare staff were on strike at the time.

Celestine Oriama, the cousin of Corporal Ekisa, mentioned that the driver of the alleged responsible motorcycle surrendered at the Malaba Police Station, and the motorcycle was impounded by the authorities. Police investigations are currently underway to determine the cause of the tragic accident. Corporal Ekisa was the son of retired Assistant Education Officer Erneo Ekisa.
