While the video was clearly a bizarre and outrageous display of the former president's hostile attitude towards protest, it was not taken as a literal threat by most people.

However, the situation took a real-life turn in July when a cyclospora outbreak hit the United States, affecting at least 47 states and resulting in over 24,000 suspected cases with more than 24,000 suspected cases. At least two people in Michigan passed away due to the parasite after having pre-existing medical conditions. The outbreak was traced back to contaminated lettuce.

The cyclospora outbreak was partly a result of the Trump Administration's aggressive cuts to the federal workforce, which severely hampered the response efforts. The lab responsible for identifying parasitic outbreaks, which was once staffed with 11 people, had its personnel reduced to just three. This caused a significant hinderance in the identification of the source of the outbreak.

Moreover, the closure of the USAID, driven by billionaire Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency, resulted in the loss of millions of dollars that could have been allocated to American public health agencies.

Dr. Joel Barratt, the head of the lab responsible for tracking parasitic outbreaks, stated that the response to the outbreak was being hampered by the loss of specialized staff and the lack of personnel needed to identify the source of the outbreaks. Trump's AI video predicting the outbreak was not a direct cause, but his policy choices played a significant role in creating the perfect storm that allowed the parasitic outbreak to occur and made it harder to contain.
