Trinasolar powers 10 MWh solar and storage project in Phu Quoc

Trina Solar has completed a 10 MWh solar and storage project at the Corona Resort in Phu Quoc, Vietnam. The project, developed by Nam Viet Green Energy JSC, combines solar panels and battery storage to improve energy supply resilience. The Corona Resort, a major tourist destination in Vietnam, faces increasing electricity demand due to tourism operations.

The project initially installed 5.5 MWp of solar modules, with additional 3 MWp of n-type i-TOPCon Vertex N modules and a 10 MWh AC-coupled Trina Storage Elementa 2 battery system added later. This integrated PV and BESS system allows for more efficient use of solar energy, reduces peak electricity demand, enhances energy resilience, and improves overall operating efficiency.

Vietnam aims to develop 10,000-16,300 MW of BESS capacity by 2030, recognizing the growing role of BESS in integrating renewable energy sources and strengthening energy security. Trina Solar worked closely with Nam Viet Green Energy to ensure the system was tailored to the project's technical and commercial requirements. Elva Wang, Trina Solar's group director for Southeast, South, and Central Asia, highlighted that integrating solar and storage technologies is an emerging trend in Vietnam's renewable energy market, and close collaboration among technology providers, EPCs, and customers is crucial for successful project execution.

Trina Solar plans to expand its footprint in Vietnam with the construction of a third factory in Thai Nguyen, investing an additional $420 million to boost its exports to the US following US tariffs on its products made in Thailand.
