친청계 최고위원들 “당 대표가 통합에 적극 역할해야”

The top-ranking officials from the Jeolla branch of the Democratic United Party called for the party leader to take an active role in resolving internal conflicts and unifying the party ahead of the 8·17 party congress. At a recent YouTube event, 최민희, 이성윤, and 한민수 expressed their views on the matter. One of them stated, "We, the four individuals who have supported President Kim Dae-jung, need to come together."

They emphasized the importance of abstaining from making light of or ridiculing those who have supported 정청래, the party's candidate. They also highlighted the need to ensure that the newly elected party leader does not repeat past mistakes. The officials advised that the party leader's role is crucial, and they should continue to send messages without hesitation.

They added that if the party leader were to actively promote a cultural change, it could help overcome opposition from the broader public, with a recent poll showing 30% support for the opposition and 53% in favor of 정청래. Concerning the controversy surrounding the appointment of the Constitutional Court judge, 서면제청, they strongly criticized the move and called for a thorough discussion within the organization.

They argued that the judge's appointment is akin to an insult to the president and urged for impeachment proceedings to begin. The officials suggested that a discussion on the matter should take place in the upcoming parliamentary session. During the event, 김어준, one of the officials, explained the absence of other top-ranking officials, stating that 일정 conflicts arose with 김선원 and 서미화, but the latter was eventually able to attend.
