Solid minerals fund offers guidance to applicants for grants

The Solid Minerals Development Fund (SMDF) has introduced two live information sessions to assist prospective applicants in understanding the grant funding opportunities under the EMERGE initiative. These sessions aim to provide guidance on eligibility requirements, funding streams, and the application process. The SMDF, an agency of the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development, announced the sessions in a notice, stating that they will help prospective applicants prepare their applications for the grants.

The first session, covering Exploration and Critical Minerals, will be held on August 20, from 12 pm to 1 pm, while the second session on Research and Development will occur on August 21, from 11 am to 12 pm. These interactive sessions allow applicants to ask questions and gain clarity before submitting their applications. The SMDF encourages eligible stakeholders, including individuals, researchers, and innovators, to participate in the sessions.

The EMERGE programme, which is part of the Federal Government's efforts to support early-stage mining projects in Nigeria, aims to address the challenge of moving promising mineral projects beyond exploration. By providing catalytic grants, technical support, and research funding, the EMERGE initiative seeks to build a pipeline of investment-ready projects in Nigeria's solid minerals sector.
