Seth Meyers Launches ‘A Closer Look’ Podcast During Long Hiatus

While the popular NBC talk show "Late Night with Seth Meyers" is currently on hiatus, the show's host is keeping his audience engaged through a new podcast. Seth Meyers and his co-host Sal Gentile, who is typically responsible for "A Closer Look" segments, have launched "A Closer Look Out of Office." The podcast, which focuses on headlines Meyers and Gentile would have covered during the hiatus, is nearly 50 minutes long in its inaugural episode.

Gentile admits that the podcast's title, "A Closer Look: Proof of Life," was originally suggested by Meyers as a way to reassure listeners that he and Gentile are still active, drawing a comparison to how Mitch McConnell periodically shares new photos. Recording the podcast from Meyers' own studio while he is away with his family led to a lighthearted comment from Meyers about carrying around his broadcasting equipment in a bindle.

"Late Night" has been off the air longer than expected, mainly due to summer breaks. It is still uncertain when Meyers and his team will resume their regular schedule, but "Late Night" will continue airing reruns until the end of August.
