Paramount+ will debut 10 episodes of the animated comedy "Golden Axe" on September 16. This adaptation of the popular Sega video game series, originating in 1989, combines the saga of legendary warriors Ax Battler, Tyris Flare and Gilius Thunderhead as they unite to thwart the undead menace Death Adder. The trio's journey is complicated by Hampton Squib, a greenhorn adventurer with grandiose dreams but limited talent.
Executive producers include Neal H. Moritz, Pavun Shetty and Toby Ascher, alongside Titmouse Animation. The show's creators, Mike McMahan, Joe Chandler and Neal H. Moritz's team, draw inspiration from the original game and classic animated productions like "Fire and Ice," "The Secret of NIMH" and the "Hobbit." With its humorous take on the game's source material and nostalgic visuals, "Golden Axe" is set to deliver a blend of hack-and-slash action and irreverent humor, promising a fresh take on this beloved franchise.
