Landtagswahl: CDU-Politiker spendet für AfD und empfiehlt deren Wahl

A CDU politician from Saxony-Anhalt allegedly donated €10,000 to the AfD and endorsed their election in two installments of €5,000 each, according to the Magdeburg newspaper "Volksstimme". The donor, Bernd Prange, a taxi driver and Stendal District Council member, could not be reached for comment. Prange cited "deep concern for our country" as the reason for his donation.

He felt that the CDU no longer represented his conservative values such as performance, order, safety, national sovereignty, economic rationality, and protection of cultural identity. Instead, he observed the CDU moving progressively to the left, strengthening its 'brand wall' and collaborating with left-wing and left-wing radical forces.

Prange expressed worry that some conservatives in the CDU were betraying and selling their country and party to the left. He planned to vote for the AfD in the Landtag election on September 6th, hoping to inspire conservatives to do the same, so the AfD could secure an absolute majority and force the CDU to reconsider its course.

Saxony-Anhalt CDU General Secretary Mario Karschunke strongly criticized Prange's behavior and threatened a party expulsion procedure, stating that the report on a possible donation by a CDU member from the Stendal County Association was taken very seriously. If proven true, the incident would constitute a very serious party political act.

According to the "Focus" news magazine, Prange intended to provoke this step, saying "I want them to kick me out. The CDU is no longer my home and future. It is a right-wing extremist endeavor in Saxony-Anhalt, with survey data placing it at over 40% of second votes, far ahead of the CDU.
