On August 20, 2026, a mudslide struck a home in Mae Hong Son province, leaving five people trapped. Six soldiers from the 36th Mobile Development Unit, part of the Armed Forces Development Command's Region 3 Development Office, were dispatched to assist with the emergency disaster relief efforts. The team collaborated with the Mae Katuan Subdistrict Administrative Organization to locate and rescue residents following days of heavy rainfall that triggered flash floods and caused a mudslide.
The force of the mudslide demolished a residential property in Ban Khon Phueng, Village No. 5, within the Mae Katuan subdistrict of Sop Moei district, engulfing the house in mud and debris. Five individuals were injured in the incident, and rescue officials provided first aid before transporting them to Sop Moei Hospital for further medical care.
