South African Police Service (Saps) officers in Limpopo have arrested five individuals aged between 28 and 47 in connection to alleged robberies, according to reports. The suspects were discovered after police received information about two vehicles believed to be used in a planned robbery at a commercial establishment on Tuesday evening.

The vehicles, a white Volkswagen Polo and a maroon Mazda CX-3, were traced to a liquor outlet in the Tubatse policing area. Upon searching the vehicles, police found seven suspected stolen cellphones and two firearms. One pistol was loaded with seven live rounds, while the other held 14 rounds and an additional magazine. All five suspects were arrested at Tubatse Police Station and face charges including possession of unauthorized firearms and possession of suspected stolen property.

One of the suspects, aged 28, was already linked to an armed robbery case reported in Tubatse in August 2026, and he led police to a firearm used in the incident. The suspect later turned over a shotgun and four empty cartridges at his home. Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Jan Scheepers, emphasized the significance of the recovered firearms in combating serious and violent crime, stating that those who commit such crimes with firearms will face the full force of the law.

The suspects are set to appear before the Praktiseer Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, and police investigations continue.
