CM Yogi Adityanath Pushes ITI-Industry Partnerships, Global Job Training To Make Uttar Pradesh Leading Skill Hub

Lucknow, August 20: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasized during a review of the Department of Vocational Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship that ITIs require strong connections with numerous industries. He stressed the importance of aligning curriculum and training with industry needs, along with promoting apprenticeships and on-the-job experiences to offer trained youth better employment opportunities.

The Chief Minister further highlighted the necessity of establishing ties with global job markets, advocating for continuous dialogue between ITIs and industries, and organizing regular employment fairs at divisional headquarters.

Reviewing the progress of the Center for Innovation, Invention, Incubation and Training (CIIIT) centers in Gorakhpur, Muzaffarnagar, and Bareilly, the Chief Minister directed that these centers should commence their operations as soon as possible. He described them as centers of excellence for modern technology and industry-based training.

During the meeting, it was announced that 150 government ITIs are being upgraded with support from Tata Technologies, and the process for upgrading an additional 62 ITIs is underway. Advanced skill labs have been set up in 37 government ITIs, thanks to industry collaboration. The Chief Minister stressed the significance of instructors' quality for training effectiveness and directed the expediting of the selection process.

He also suggested that selected instructors should receive merit-based consideration in the regular appointment system, based on their experience and performance.

The meeting informed that 2,406 instructor positions have been filled, and more than 2,200 selected instructors have already begun their duties. In response to the growing demand for skilled labor in countries like Japan and Germany, efforts are being made to select companies for establishing digital training in foreign languages.

The Chief Minister urged special attention to providing skill training to children and youth from families associated with the Zero Poverty campaign, connecting them with employment and self-employment opportunities.

It was revealed that 9.52 lakh youths from the 14 to 35 age group belonging to such families have been verified, of whom 1.44 lakh have been identified as eligible. Among these, 8,746 youths have registered for training. In the past five years, the Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission has trained 21.13 lakh youths, and 12.94 lakh have secured employment.

The Chief Minister emphasized that the success of skill training should now be measured based on employment and self-employment outcomes rather than the sheer number of individuals trained. He called for rapid efforts to transform Uttar Pradesh into a leading skill hub by equipping the state's youth with modern skills, industry-based training, and global employment opportunities.
