Abu Dhabi launches 18 smart ambulances across three categories

The Department of Health in Abu Dhabi and the Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority recently unveiled a new generation of intelligent and specialized ambulances at the organization's headquarters. This initiative aims to improve the speed and effectiveness of emergency responses by providing tailored medical care to patients from the initial stages of an emergency.

The new fleet consists of 18 ambulances, divided into three categories, with six vehicles in each category. Among these vehicles are specialized ambulances equipped to provide advanced care for critically ill patients, ambulances designed to support the response to cases involving mothers and newborns, and vehicles tailored to meet the needs of patients with severe obesity.

Medical capabilities within these ambulances include ultrasound devices, intravenous medication pumps, ventilators, and other essential equipment. The integration of artificial intelligence is not intended to replace medical professionals, but rather to support their decision-making processes.

Speaking at the event, Dr Rashed Al Suwaidi, Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre, emphasized the importance of readiness, proactive action, and integration among emergency response components. He explained that these elements are crucial for safeguarding community health and safety, as they encompass not only the speed of ambulance arrival but also the coordination of efforts, timely decision-making, and effective action.

The new ambulances represent a significant development in Abu Dhabi's emergency response system. They provide specialized equipment and capabilities to cater to different medical conditions and patient needs, accelerating interventions and minimizing complications. The integration of these ambulances into the Unified Medical Operations Centre system ensures that available resources are directed towards delivering timely assistance and optimizing patients' chances of recovery.
