7th Session of Qatar-Egypt Joint Higher Committee convenes in El Alamein

On Thursday, the seventh session of the Joint Higher Committee between Qatar and Egypt took place in El Alamein. Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, led the Qatari delegation, while Egypt's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Egyptian Expatriates, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, headed the Egyptian side.

During the meeting, both countries reviewed their cooperation relations and discussed ways to strengthen them, particularly in sectors like economy, investment, diplomacy, health, agriculture, and food security. They lauded the growth of Qatari-Egyptian relations under their respective leaderships and the increasing frequency of high-level visits, indicating a shared political commitment to elevate their ties.

The recent regional situation was also discussed, along with efforts to de-escalate tensions and maintain regional stability. Both countries strongly opposed any attempts to displace Palestinians from their land or alter the demographic or geographic composition of the occupied Palestinian territories. They stressed the importance of reopening the Strait of Hormuz and ensuring secure maritime navigation and international trade flow.

They also emphasized the necessity of joint coordination between Doha and Cairo to achieve a final and sustainable agreement that ends the conflict and addresses the concerns of the Gulf states.

The session also touched upon the latest developments in the Sudanese crisis. Both sides stressed the need for the international community to fulfill its responsibilities towards Sudan's neighboring countries. They stressed the importance of preserving Sudan's unity and territorial integrity, rejecting any threats to its unity or establishment of parallel entities, and supporting Sudanese state institutions as a cornerstone for restoring security and stability.

After the discussions, the two delegations signed several agreements and memorandums of understanding, including one on mutual administrative assistance for customs law application, another on cooperation in audit work between the State Audit Bureau of Qatar and Egypt's Central Auditing Organization, and a grant agreement for establishing a hospital in Sohag Governorate, Egypt.
