700 units of Saglemi Housing Project to be completed by March 2027 - Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has set a goal to complete and open the initial 700 housing units at the Saglemi Affordable Housing Project by March 2027. This marks a renewed effort to finish the long-stalled development, with a total of 1,500 units planned for completion by December 2027. The remaining 3,500 units will follow in the future.

The President made this announcement during a visit to the site where construction has restarted through a government-private partnership. He encouraged potential homeowners to prepare for registration when the application process opens. The project, which was initially started under the late President John Evans Atta Mills, faced delays due to legal issues and vandalism, with thieves stealing electrical cables and other materials.

To ensure completion, government opted for private sector involvement with LMI Holdings leading the redevelopment. The location near Tema and the Dawa Industrial Area makes the estate conveniently positioned for workers in these areas. The first phase of 1,500 units will be completed by December 2027, with the remaining 3,500 units expected to follow.

Supporting infrastructure, such as water supply and solar power, is being developed alongside the housing units. Financial institutions are preparing mortgage and loan options to help buyers finance their purchases. Further details on registration, pricing, and financing will be announced when the official portal for interested individuals is launched.
