Why Madrid did not sign Rodri — Mourinho

Real Madrid coach José Mourinho has disclosed the reason why Madrid was unable to secure the services of Manchester City midfielder Rodri. Despite making a strong offer to the Spanish international, Madrid ultimately failed to complete the deal. It was reported that Mourinho had spoken with Rodri multiple times during the negotiations, assuring him that Madrid had presented an attractive proposal.

The Portuguese manager further revealed that Madrid and Manchester City had a good relationship, with the club having approached Rodri directly prior to their discussions with the English side. However, Rodri’s own reservations ultimately proved to be a decisive factor in the deal falling through. Mourinho explained that Rodri had doubts about the move, which created uncertainty for Madrid as well.

Despite acknowledging Rodri as an extraordinary player and noting his respectful demeanor, Mourinho admitted that the player’s hesitation ultimately led to the collapse of the transfer.
