Volvo Malaysia Teases Upcoming Arrival Of 2026 EX90 EV

Volvo Car Malaysia has announced the forthcoming launch of the refreshed 2026 EX90 electric SUV in the local market. The company teased the news via its social media platforms, though a precise launch date and specific model variants have not been disclosed. First presented globally in September 2025, the upgraded EX90 introduces a host of enhancements over the Malaysian version, primarily a shift from a 400V to an 800V electrical system.

This upgrade enables the vehicle to accommodate up to 350kW DC fast charging, compared to the previous 250kW capability, potentially adding up to 250km of additional range following a 10-minute charge at a compatible charging station. Volvo asserts that this enhanced electrical architecture also optimizes battery and motor efficiency, thereby reducing overall weight.

The revised EX90 retains its 111kWh battery capacity, promising up to 623km of WLTP range, while the Twin Motor Performance configuration delivers 380kW (510hp) and 910Nm of torque. Moreover, Volvo has bolstered the EX90's computational capabilities with a dual NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Orin-based system, facilitating improved safety features such as alerts for hazardous road conditions, accidents ahead, and enhanced automatic emergency steering and parking assistance.

The SUV is also equipped with an electrochromic panoramic roof. In contrast to the current EX90, which was introduced in Malaysia in April 2025 at a price of RM442,888, the new model brings notable advancements in charging speed and safety technology, with the former being its primary selling point. However, it remains unclear whether the Malaysian edition will align with the global specification.
