UAE provides $3.9 billion in Gaza aid, accounting for 46 per cent of global assistance

Abu Dhabi: The United Arab Emirates has provided a significant $3.9 billion in humanitarian aid to Gaza, representing 46 per cent of the global total, according to Hammoud Al Afari, Relief Operations Coordinator for Operation Gallant Knight 3. The UAE's approach to swift humanitarian response and efficient field operations, which draws from the legacy of its founding father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, is reflected in this substantial aid.

Al Afari emphasized the UAE's commitment to aiding people in times of need, attributing it to the country's humanitarian principles. This aid was announced alongside a new Sharjah Charity International initiative, "With Knowledge, We Rise," aimed at supporting education and Palestinian students in Gaza. The charity has dispatched an air shipment from Sharjah Airport carrying over 60 tonnes of educational and stationery supplies to the Egyptian city of Al Arish, which will be distributed to Gaza's beneficiaries.

This initiative seeks to help students continue their studies despite the challenging humanitarian conditions in Gaza. Sharjah Charity International's Executive Director, Abdullah bin Khadem, disclosed that the organization has provided over Dh20 million in aid to Gaza through their joint efforts with Operation Gallant Knight 3.

He also mentioned that the new education campaign aims to distribute more than 25,000 school bags to students across various educational levels. Overall, UAE aid to Gaza under Operation Gallant Knight 3 has reached $3.12 billion, with five aid convoys delivering 938 tonnes of relief to the region. Operation Gallant Knight 3 marks 1,000 days of humanitarian aid for the Palestinian people by the UAE.
