Civil Defence Force personnel capture python which swallowed pet cat

KLUANG - Civil Defence Force officers successfully captured a python that had ingested a pet cat in Kampung Kenangan, Layang-Layang, on yesterday afternoon, according to a report by the New Straits Times. District Civil Defence Force disaster operations unit officer Mohamad Faizal Othman disclosed that they received an alert at 5:39 pm and promptly dispatched an officer and three personnel to the incident site.

Faizal emphasized the use of proper equipment and techniques while ensuring safety remained their top priority during the capture. He also provided guidance to the resident on safety precautions and potential actions to take in case of similar incidents.

During last year, the Civil Defence Force managed to capture 1,230 snakes. Faizal highlighted that their team employs a humanitarian approach to capture venomous animals and reptiles, using specialized gear and methods to handle and control these creatures while strictly adhering to safety protocols. Additionally, they offer public advice on avoiding snake encounters and the necessary steps to follow when confronted by venomous animals.

Faizal noted that the hot and dry conditions brought on by the Southwest Monsoon season could cause some reptiles to venture into residential areas in search of food, water, or shelter. He advised the public to remain cautious, especially in overgrown areas, piles of unused items, and other potential hiding spots. Residents were cautioned against attempting to catch or handle snakes themselves, and instead, should immediately reach out to authorities or the Civil Defence Force for assistance.
