The Blood of Dawnwalker's system requirements dropped by half in just months

Rebel Wolves, the development studio behind upcoming action RPG The Blood of Dawnwalker, has recently updated the game's system requirements. Since April, the game's specifications have become significantly lighter, providing a more accessible experience for players with less powerful hardware. This change is primarily due to the use of upscaling, which boosts performance to achieve similar graphics quality at reduced GPU strain.

Set in medieval Southeastern Europe during the Black Death, The Blood of Dawnwalker follows a player-controlled character capable of shifting between magic and vampiric abilities. The game's storyline is less linear compared to The Witcher 3, with players making choices on which quests to undertake within a time limit. Most characters can perish permanently, and time passes when quests are completed, unlocking new paths and storylines.

The game's system requirements dropped by half, making it more accessible to a broader audience. Previously, a Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 was required to maintain 60fps in 4K at ultra settings. However, with upscaling, an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 Ti or an AMD Radeon RX 9070 are now sufficient, representing a 50% improvement in performance.

Upscaling is likely to be used to achieve these performance gains, with DLSS, FSR, or XeSS running in performance mode. Despite the reduced GPU requirements, the game still demands substantial system resources, including 60GB of storage. The Blood of Dawnwalker will be available on Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on September 3.
