However, TEAMtalk reported that Andoni Iraola, Liverpool's manager, could green-light the forward's exit if the Reds can secure a replacement before the transfer deadline.

On Tuesday, Alex Crook from talkSPORT stated that Liverpool are unlikely to sanction a move to Spurs for Gakpo, emphasizing that the player has had a good pre-season under Iraola and is a player that Iraola can get the best out of. Meanwhile, Fabrizio Romano claimed on his YouTube channel that the negotiation for Cody Gakpo to Tottenham remains ongoing, adding that Gakpo is open to joining Spurs and that personal terms are not a problem. Romano further stated that the deal remains on as long as financial agreements can be reached.

The uncertainty surrounding Gakpo's future is largely dependent on Liverpool's pursuit of other targets, such as Paris Saint-Germain's Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye.
