Safaricom Launches Bundle Ya Wakulima Offering Farmers Connectivity

Safaricom has introduced a new mobile package specifically aimed at farmers, providing essential connectivity, insurance, and agricultural support. Known as Bundle Ya Wakulima, this offering merges voice, data, SMS, and WhatsApp services with insurance and advisory services under Safaricom's PATA MORE customer value proposition. The package also includes discounted access to farm inputs, mechanization, and credit options for eligible users.

Speaking at a farmer engagement session in Bungoma, Safaricom's Chief Consumer Business Officer, Fawzia Ali, emphasized that the initiative aims to equip farmers with information, safeguard their livelihoods, and enhance productivity. Ali highlighted that food security is vital to human well-being, but it faces threats when farmers lack reliable information, support, and protection for their produce.

She noted that the bundle was crafted based on farmer feedback, particularly acknowledging the continued importance of voice communication in agricultural decision-making.

Safaricom pointed out that many farmers are still susceptible to climate-related disruptions, health crises, and income fluctuations due to limited adoption of agricultural insurance. The company believes that Bundle Ya Wakulima will mitigate these issues by offering farmers access to critical services throughout the farming cycle. The package is available on various plans, including daily, weekly, monthly, and longer-term options, allowing farmers to choose arrangements that align with their farming schedules and seasons.
