Qatar Airways Cargo to boost presence in HK with MoU

Qatar Airways Cargo plans to bolster its presence in Hong Kong with a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed on Wednesday, airport officials announced. This move is set to further solidify Hong Kong's position as a leading global aviation hub, according to Secretary for Transport and Logistics Mable Chan. The Airport Authority, in partnership with Qatar Airways Cargo, aims to strengthen air connectivity and push forward aviation development through increased flight frequencies and the creation of new cargo routes.

Chan expressed her satisfaction with the establishment of the regional office, stating it showcased Qatar Airways' confidence in Hong Kong. The Secretary for Transport and Logistics noted that the MoU marked a significant strategic advancement in the aviation partnership between the two entities. Hong Kong and Qatar have historically maintained a robust aviation relationship, and this latest agreement is poised to elevate their collaboration to new heights.

Airport Authority chief executive Vivian Cheung acknowledged the highly competitive air cargo market in the region and committed to continuing efforts to attract and work with various airlines to enhance Hong Kong's connectivity and competitiveness. Currently, Qatar Airways Cargo operates approximately 56 weekly flights from Hong Kong to global destinations.
