Pune rail woes flagged at Central Railway meet; station upgrade, Chakan freight corridor sought

Central Railway's leaders met with MPs from Pune and Solapur on Wednesday, addressing long-standing issues from subway flooding to overcrowded trains. General Manager Rajeev Shrivastava and Deputy General Manager K.K. Mishra joined Principal Heads of Departments and Divisional Railway Managers. Thirteen MPs attended, including Murlidhar Mohol, Shrirang Appa Barne, and Dr Amol Kolhe.

Mohol emphasized security, future-proofing Pune station, and tackling waterlogging, while Barne pushed for a permanent road-over-bridge at Kamshet's Level Crossing Gate No. 42. Kolhe advocated for a freight corridor connecting industrial hubs in Chakan to the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust, citing traffic congestion and job risks for workers.
