Pune: FDA Suspends Hotel Chul Mutton's Licence; Banned Products Worth ₹10 Lakh Seized In 4-Day Drive

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in Pune has taken significant action against food establishments, suspending Hotel Chul Mutton's licence and seizing prohibited food products worth ₹10.07 lakh during a four-day drive from August 14 to 17. As part of the FDA's ongoing food safety campaign, 40 food establishments across Pune Division were inspected, revealing repeated violations of hygiene and food safety norms.

The restaurant, situated in Lohegaon, was found to be in serious breach of the hygiene and health requirements outlined in Schedule 4 of the Food Safety and Standards Regulations. Consequently, its FSSAI licence was suspended, and the establishment was banned from conducting food business operations until the issues were resolved.

Of the 40 inspected establishments, 36 received improvement notices, while one licence was suspended, with no licences being cancelled during the period. Additionally, three establishments were found to be in possession of prohibited food products, leading to the seizure of these products and the arrest of seven individuals. Seven vehicles were also seized during the crackdown.

Tukaram Mundhe, Commissioner of the FDA Pune Division, emphasized the administration's strict stance on food quality and the enforcement of the law, warning that anyone compromising public health would face severe consequences.
