'Our Sticky Love' tops Netflix's weekly non-English chart

Netflix's original romantic comedy series, "Our Sticky Love," has topped the platform's weekly non-English chart, according to the streaming giant's announcement on Wednesday. Despite criticism directed at one of its main stars, the show managed to amass an impressive 7.5 million views during the latest tracking period, which concluded on Sunday. "Our Sticky Love" was released as an original series, starring Jung Hae-in and Ha Young, and quickly climbed to the top of the charts in numerous countries.

The show's success was particularly noteworthy as it reached the top 10 in 68 countries, with a prominent position in 26 of them. These countries include South Korea, Brazil, Indonesia, and Singapore, among others. Jung Hae-in played the role of Jang Tae-ha, a boxing coach who claims to be the boyfriend of Go Eun-sae (Ha Young), a determined prosecutor who loses her memory and wakes up in a quiet village called Yeot, which also refers to a traditional Korean candy.

Shortly after the show's debut, Ha Young faced controversy due to her initial dismissal of allegations surrounding her great-grandfather's involvement in pro-Japanese activities during Japan's colonial rule of Korea, which lasted from 1910 to 1945. However, she later admitted that her great-grandfather was a member of an organization that historians believe participated in pro-Japanese activities.
