‘Nothing wrong with couples maintaining separate bank accounts’ – Davido

Nigerian musician Davido has expressed his support for couples maintaining separate bank accounts, stating that both men and women should have personal financial independence. During an appearance on The Uncut Podcast, the singer addressed a question about whether women should keep secret bank accounts away from their partners. Davido firmly believed that it should extend to both parties in a relationship.

He remarked, "Yeah, I think it’s good. I actually think they should; you never know. If I ever found out that my wife had a secret bank account, I’d not be angry; I think everybody should have their own." The music star emphasized that having separate finances is crucial because one can never predict what the future holds. Both men and women, he argued, should be financially prepared and capable of standing on their own if circumstances were to change.

Davido reiterated that personal financial independence is advantageous in relationships and that everyone, regardless of their marital status, should have their own account.
