Mehul Choksi’s lawyer Vijay Aggarwal arrested in UK over sexual assault allegation

Indian criminal lawyer Vijay Aggarwal, who represents fugitive diamond businessman Mehul Choksi, was arrested in London on Aug 11 and is currently in jail on four sexual assault charges against two women. His personal assistant, Manpreet Kaur, is also in custody and faces two sexual assault charges. Both were arrested at their serviced luxury town house in Mayfair after police were alerted to reports of sexual assaults at the property.

Aggarwal, 57, is alleged to have intentionally touched the women without consent, while Kaur is accused of encouraging the assaults by introducing the women to Aggarwal. They appeared together at Westminster magistrates' court on Aug 13 and have been remanded in custody, with their case being sent to Southwark crown court for further proceedings.

Two other individuals were arrested but have since been released on bail. Choksi, accused of defrauding Punjab National Bank of Rs 13,500 crore, continues to have Aggarwal represent him in his extradition case.
