Joey Votto answers questions about Reds' GM, coaching jobs

Former Cincinnati Reds star Joey Votto sparked interest on social media with his answers during an interview with MLB Network's Brian Kenny on MLB Now. Kenny inquired if Votto had any interest in working for his former team, specifically in the GM role. Votto responded sarcastically, stating, "No, I don't." He expressed gratitude for the confidence shown but clarified his motivation for continuing his career.

Votto emphasized that "I get to come here and hang out," and that serving as a hitter requires time in the minor leagues. When asked about a front office position, Votto humorously replied, "Yeah, if they want to give me the Reds' job, I'll take it." Kenny playfully teased, "You mean running the club?" Votto affirmed, "Yeah, just give me the GM, I'll take it."

In July, Votto discussed on NBC's Sunday Night Baseball why he never visited the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York. Votto also revealed during the same broadcast that he had not lobbied to play outfield, sharing a painful memory from his career. Earlier in the broadcast, Bob Costas questioned Votto about being underappreciated for playing in Cincinnati without winning a World Series.
