Home minister orders Immigration to fully cooperate in fatal Maju Junction crash probe

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 19 — In response to a fatal crash involving an Immigration Department lorry, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail has directed the Malaysian Immigration Department to fully cooperate with investigators, according to a Facebook post. Saifuddin expressed condolences to the victims' families and pledged that if negligence, misconduct, or breaches of the law are found, those responsible will face firm action.

The tragic incident occurred early this morning when a lorry without passengers, en route to a raid against undocumented migrants, collided with four pedestrians at the Maju Junction intersection, killing three of them. A Proton Saga was also involved in the crash, colliding with the lorry as it careened out of control. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
