GoldBod gave Auditor-General full access to records – Sammy Gyamfi

Sammy Gyamfi, CEO of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), has refuted allegations that the company failed to provide the Auditor-General with comprehensive financial data for its 2025 accounts. This comes after Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin expressed doubts about the reported GH₵5.44 billion surplus, suggesting the Auditor-General may not have received the complete financial overview.

However, Gyamfi asserts that the Auditor-General had full access to all pertinent records and documents throughout the audit. Speaking at the government's Accountability Series on August 19, 2026, he invited skeptics to directly consult the Auditor-General for verification. According to him, GoldBod supplied all documents requested by the audit team, and the issues raised in the management letter were resolved satisfactorily.

The Auditor-General's report shows GoldBod had an operational surplus of GH₵909.7 million and an overall surplus of GH₵5.44 billion for the 2025 fiscal year. Gyamfi pointed out that the audit report contained no adverse findings, including accusations of losses, procurement mishaps, or breaches of the Public Financial Management Act.

He labeled the claims of incomplete disclosure as an effort to discredit the Auditor-General's work and urged the public to trust the official audit report when evaluating GoldBod's financial performance.
