'Genius in this format': Former India bowler calls Rishabh Pant India's greatest-ever Test wicket-keeper batter
MS Dhoni's shadow might still loom behind the stumps, but one former Indian bowler has declared Rishabh Pant as India's greatest-ever Test wicket-keeper.
Former India bowler Dodda Ganesh has sparked debate by declaring Rishabh Pant as India's greatest-ever Test wicketkeeper-batter. Ganesh's argument centers on Pant's match-winning impact across his 50 Tests, surpassing past greats like MS Dhoni. The former seamer highlighted Pant's recent achievement of reaching 100 sixes in Test cricket, a first for an Indian and only the fourth globally.
Despite playing fewer tests than Dhoni, Pant's average of 43.37 with eight centuries and 19 fifties places him ahead in run-scoring among Indian wicketkeepers. Ganesh dismisses nostalgia, emphasizing Pant's career-defining contributions, such as his 89 not out at the Gabba and hundreds in England, Australia, and South Africa, which are unmatched by other Indian batters.
