From corporate life to brewing coffee in a Range Rover

Mohd Hairy Roslan, a former oil and gas industry professional, has transitioned from corporate life to serving specialty coffee from a Range Rover. In May, Hairy launched "Other Sidequest," a mobile coffee business that operates in Bukit Damansara on weekdays and Sri Hartamas on weekends. Hairy's journey began during the pandemic when he started brewing coffee at home for his coffee-loving wife. The idea for "Other Sidequest" came from encouragement from family and friends, who urged him to serve others from the street.

Hairy's setup includes a La Marzocco Linea Mini R espresso machine, a coffee grinder, digital scale, mini whisk, matcha-making set, and a knock tube for disposing of spent grounds. A small fan keeps him cool while working. Customers can enjoy classics like Americano, flat white, and mocha, as well as Hairy's house blend and specialty drinks such as strawberry chocolate and dirty matcha.

On weekdays, the business is more focused on grab-and-go options for office workers, while weekends offer a more relaxed atmosphere with cyclists and runners. Despite initial struggles, Hairy's sales have improved over time. He remains focused on his sidequest, enjoying the experience of serving coffee and connecting with the community.
