Flip raises $25M to expand AI platform for frontline workers

Flip, an employee experience platform, has secured $25 million in new funding to broaden its AI-driven technology catering to frontline workers. Both existing backers, Notion Capital and HV Capital, have bolstered their positions, while L-Bank, Baden-Württemberg's development bank, also invested along with a consortium of business angels and institutional investors.

Established in 2018, Flip offers a digital employee platform tailored to industries such as manufacturing, retail, logistics, care, and hospitality, where workers frequently lack regular access to corporate computers or email accounts.

The platform integrates internal communication, workflows, digital identity, and AI tools into a single application. Flip aims to bridge the gap in AI adoption between office-based and frontline employees, as AI tools have become prevalent in knowledge work but remain scarce in deskless work settings. Benedikt Brand, Flip's co-founder and CEO, highlighted that frontline organizations often lack the necessary digital identity and infrastructure to integrate AI into their daily operations.

Flip's expansion hinges on Fusion, an AI-powered product that creates custom applications for frontline teams based on specific stores, teams, or operational processes. This technology aims to minimize the need for companies to procure and customize multiple software applications for individual frontline use cases. Additionally, Flip has launched Frontline Identity, a feature enabling employees to access workplace systems without needing a corporate email address.

This capability streamlines digital access for deskless employees and offers a unified identity layer for utilizing company applications and AI tools.

The funding will be directed towards refining Flip's infrastructure and facilitating the platform's expansion for frontline workers.
